Kristina came to Alaska in 1989 for a summer job working in an archaeology camp and she never left. While spending 7 summers guiding backpack and river trips in the remote Alaska Brook’s Range, she became interested in medicine—especially medicine where there are no providers. She trained extensively in wilderness medicine, met several Alaskan physician assistants, and decided that she would pursue a career as a physician assistant. She graduated from University of Utah in 1998 as a physician assistant after being trained on a small reservation in the Four Corners area of the Southwestern United States. Kristina returned to Alaska to work in the Bush community of McGrath for three years and then opened her own family medicine clinic in Seward, AK where she worked for 10 years. Then, she transitioned into psychiatry for 13 years, and after a brief 1 year stint in cardiology, she is happy to have returned to the family medicine world.
In her free time, you can find her hiking or running with her Australian shepherd, Bodhi, or skiing the trails at Kincaid Park. She enjoys anything outdoors in Alaska and is always open to trying new things. She is passionate about preserving the beauty and uniqueness’ of Alaska.
