Zoey Keene is a nationally certified physician assistant and born-and-raised Alaskan dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care. She earned her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Trine University and holds dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology (with a concentration in Physiology) and Interdisciplinary Studies in Behavioral Healthcare, along with a minor in Psychology from the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

With a broad foundation of clinical experience, Zoey has trained across multiple specialties, including pediatrics, general surgery, bariatrics, emergency medicine, internal medicine, women’s health, behavioral health, and more. She has provided care in both outpatient and hospital settings, developed individualized treatment plans, assisted in advanced surgical procedures—including robotic-assisted surgeries—and managed chronic and acute conditions. 

Before becoming a PA, Zoey worked as a Certified Medical Assistant and Physical Therapy Technician. She is passionate about community service, having volunteered with the Food Bank of Alaska, Hope House, and Special Olympics, and served as a long-time youth volleyball coach. A former NCAA Division II student-athlete, Zoey played collegiate volleyball at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and earned multiple academic and athletic honors during her time there.

She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA), the Alaska Academy of PAs (AKPA), and the Physician Associates in Hospice and Palliative Medicine (PAHPM), and is certified in BLS, ACLS, and PALS. Zoey was also a recipient of the Jessica Stevens Memorial Scholarship from the Alaska Academy of PAs.

Outside of medicine, she enjoys hiking, fishing, sports, crafting, and spending time with her rescue dog—all while staying grounded in the values and lifestyle of her Alaskan roots.

Dr. Andrew Beck is a board-certified family medicine physician dedicated to providing comprehensive, patient-centered care. He recently concluded his service as a physician in the United States Air Force, where he gained extensive experience managing a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions, trauma, preventive care, and urgent care needs while also holding several medical directorships.

During his military service, Dr. Beck received awards for achieving 100% patient satisfaction ratings, reflecting his commitment to compassionate, high-quality care.

Dr. Beck has a particular interest in whole-person wellness, lifestyle optimization, longevity medicine, and complementary and alternative approaches to health. He is passionate about helping patients achieve their best health through personalized care, preventive strategies, and a focus on long-term wellness.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Beck enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, exploring the outdoors in Alaska, reading, practicing meditation, engaging in fitness and exercise, and experimenting in the kitchen.

He also embraces wellness rituals like sauna and cold plunge therapy, reflecting his commitment to living a balanced, healthy lifestyle.

Dr. Beck looks forward to partnering with his patients to optimize their health, prevent disease, and support overall well-being.

What You Need to Know About Volcanic Ash

Even though ash may look like dust, it’s actually made of tiny, sharp particles of rock and glass. This can cause irritation to your eyes, skin, and respiratory system, particularly for young children, older adults, and those with existing lung conditions like asthma or COPD. In addition to health concerns, ash can make roads slippery, damage vehicles, and clog water systems. While most eruptions in Alaska don’t produce heavy ash fall, it’s always best to be prepared.

How to Prepare for Volcanic Ash Fall

Being ready ahead of time can make all the difference. Here are some key steps to take before an eruption:

✔ Have an Emergency Plan – Make sure your family knows what to do in case of an ash fall event.

✔ Build an Emergency Kit – Along with essentials like food, water, and first aid supplies, add items specifically for volcanic ash:

• Goggles to protect your eyes
• N95 dust masks to help with breathing

✔ Stay Informed – Follow updates from local authorities, the National Weather Service, and the Alaska Volcano Observatory for the latest alerts.

What to Do During an Ash Fall Event

If ash starts falling in your area, staying inside is the safest option. Keep windows and doors closed, and avoid going outside unless necessary. If you must go out:

• Wear long sleeves and pants to protect your skin.
• Use goggles instead of contact lenses to shield your eyes.
• Cover your nose and mouth with an N95 mask or a damp cloth.
• Avoid driving unless absolutely necessary—ash is tough on engines and can make roads hazardous.
• Keep pets indoors, and clean them off before bringing them back inside.

Once it’s safe to go outside, take precautions to protect yourself from lingering ash:

✅ Wear a mask and goggles when cleaning up ash.

✅ Cover exposed skin to prevent irritation.
